Designing Disneyland

About Me: Jonathan Pease

SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER & ART DIRECTOR — CALIFORNIA

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been captivated by Disney. I grew up surrounded by its magic—on screen and especially in the parks—and those early experiences shaped how I see the world. From the front of Main Street to the back of Toontown, Disneyland didn’t just entertain me, it inspired me. My childhood dream was always the same: “I want to be an Imagineer.” Back then, I didn’t know the details, but I knew it meant creating moments of wonder for others.

As I got older, my view of the parks changed. I still felt the magic, but I also began to see the design work behind it: the typography on a marquee, the materials chosen for a queue, the balance of signage in a shop. These details didn’t happen by accident—they were carefully crafted. That realization led me to graphic design, where I’ve spent over ten years working with typography, layout, and branding.

This portfolio reflects that passion. Each project is an exercise in recreating Disney design work, not to copy it but to understand it—the decisions, the craft, the storytelling embedded in every piece. It’s equal parts study, practice, and appreciation. At the end of the day, I’m still that kid who wanted to be an Imagineer, only now I carry the skills and experience to help bring the magic to life.
